The RealPlayer is one of at least four audio/video streaming technologies Microsoft has its hooks in, with a 10 percent stake bought last year. And a good choice it was: RealNetworks’ recent IPO was well-received, as it is considered a standard in streaming on the Web. You don’t need the Microsoft seal of approval to make it in the Net biz—but it sure helps.
