Microsoft sealed a deal in summer 1996 in which VDOnet agreed to add Microsoft’s NetMeeting conferencing software to its own VDOPhone Internet videophone—and switch to Microsoft‘s streaming standards. Microsoft invested in VDOnet and got a seat on its board.
