Incorporated in 1928 as the Food Machinery Company, FMC has grown from a manufacturer of canning and spraying equipment to become a sprawling conglomerate with plants in more than a dozen countries. In addition to facing massive penalties levied by the Environmental Protection Agency, FMC has recently run afoul of the Pentagon.
