Arlie Russell Hochschild is a professor emerita of sociology at the University of California-Berkeley and the author of several books, including Second Shift, The Outsourced Self, and Strangers in Their Own Land: Anger and Mourning on the American Right.

Arlie Russell Hochschild spent five years interviewing Louisiana tea partiers about their lives and the appeal of Donald Trump. The University of California-Berkeley sociologist's book about the Right's growing discontent, Strangers in their Own Land, will be published in September. Hochschild is the author of nine other books, including one for kids: Coleen the Question Girl.
