Tenaha, TX has apparently been using the state's forfeiture law to fleece—guess who? Mostly blacks and Latinos.

Authorities who seized $8,500 and assorted jewelry from a Tennessee man after a traffic stop in east Texas have agreed to return the property after his case drew attention from CNN.
Roderick Daniels said police in Tenaha, Texas, took the money in October 2007 after they stopped him for doing 37 mph in a 35-mph zone. He said police threatened him with money-laundering charges and promised not to prosecute if he signed over the cash, which Daniels said was to buy a new car.
Texas law allows police to confiscate drug money and other personal property they think is used in the commission of a crime. If no charges are filed or the person is acquitted, the property has to be returned.
...authorities in Tenaha, about 180 miles east of Dallas, seized $3 million from 2006 to 2008. In about 150 cases, virtually all involving African-American or Latino motorists, the seizures were improper, he said.

I guess I won't hold my breath until either the cops or prosecutors who cooked up this racist scam and abuse of authority face the kind of criminal penalties they so casually aimed at others.
Forfeiture laws are theft.
State of PA took my friend's $40,000 car because he got caught with an oz. of personal use marijuana (about $300 street value, maybe $400 if you broke it down) At that quantity, it's trafficking regardless of your actual intent, and a bored DA can arrange to seize any property involved in the "trafficking" charge. If my friend was Exxon Mobil, he could have paid his lawyers to take the case to the Supreme Court to be found excessively punitive. Sadly, real people don't usually have these options.
I looked around online to find a list of states which have forfeiture laws (it's a whole lot more than just Texas), but failed. This website is a good resource for anyone who has been a victim of property seizure - http://www.fear.org/

Just as the real reason that most people in prison are minorities it just may be that minorities who are most likely to have property confiscated is because MINORITIES COMMIT CRIMES FAR IN EXCESS OF THEIR NUMBERS IN SOCIETY!!!!!

Frankly my whole life I've only seen one probem where some idiot 'fireman ambulance master" or who knows what he was - lied his big chested door pounding butt off to the police, and I caught him doing it - and pointed it out immediately - because I'm an honest person.
I do rather feel sorry for those in the big heap cities - one can only imagine what dastardly horrors are visited upon people - or watch youtube. Not like the police are the only ones or even the worst, either. It's a whole slew of the population, a wadload of law enforcement, and a gigantic swatch of the tyranneous government at every level - right down to tiny cities and townships.
