The Planet is Dying, Exxon is Unabashed
Polar bears stranded on ice drifts, looking like dogs abandoned by their owners. Your favorite beach underwater before you can take your grandchildren there. Species die-offs. Scorching summers. Deadly droughts.
Sounds melodramatic, perhaps, but it's fact. Inexorable fact. Our only hope is that it won't be worse. I don't think it's overstating to call this the greatest moral imperative of our lifetime since, well, our lifetimes depend on it.
But Exxon is unabashed. The Guardian reports that the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank funded and led by Exxon, has offered scientists $10,000 apiece to uncover weaknesses in the UN report on climate change released yesterday. The report states with 90 percent certainty that humans are at fault for climate change, and that changes already in motion will continue for centuries.
(Do I need to repeat that Mother Jones broke the news that Exxon funded climate change denial, and has been following the story closely ever since?)

I have a dream. One day we will establish a World Court of Health & Environmental Rights. Just as war criminals are being tried in the Human Rights Court so too will the people of the world have a International Health & Environment Court. Then the CEOs of Exxon can be tried for "Crimes Against the Planet".

I'm afraid its time to tell us just how much time we have left, how long before my home in florida is underwater, how much time before there is no more potable water, how long can I depend on the air conditioner (electricity) to make summer bearable, how long do we have...global changes are here, even if bush takes his head out of his ass too much time has passed, any guesses to how long we have??

Should make a gas tax to pay for road porjects and encourage conservation of gas/diesel.
Might question how safe some Alaskan villages might be without predatory polar bears and some areas that might benefit from global warming.
On the other hand I have noticed that some people who were vocal consevationists, pro-ecology drove long distance to do ecotourism and desired large homes that were expensive to heat, thus they emitted huge quantities of CO2.

"Polar bears stranded on ice drifts, etc..." Add to those the killer tornado that swept through central Florida yesterday. Let's see if the survivors are better taken care of than the Katrina survivors.
