How do they stop military family from blogging? What next, make mom polish her buttons before inspection?

As a soldier who has served twice in Iraq, and sent home numerous e-mails, I am sensitive to the issue of operational security. I had to self-censor a great deal of my writing to ensure I was not releasing information that was in any way useful to the enemy or harmful to my comrades and our mission. The Army provided us with training and guidelines deliniating what was permissible and what was not. In fact, as the officer in charge of intelligence and security, I taught that portion of our training before deployment and redeployment home.

Operational security is of vital importance, especially in a war against a highly adaptable enemy. But I have to wonder if this policy is really about operational security. I note that many grievious problems were not properly addressed by the Army until soldiers went outside the chain of command and approached the press. The shameful conditions at Walter Reed are one example.

Curtailing the ability of soldiers to communicate with the outside world, or even with directly with loved ones is an extreme step that may bolster operational security. However, it seems more likely to me that this policy will allow a poor chain of command to go without oversight and remain uncorrected.

I'm not going to get in trouble for posting this, am I?

Let's not put out mis-information please. The new reg does not say anyone is forbidden from blogging. It says that "Army personnel" must "consult" with superiors before "posting information in a "public forum" for operational security reasons. Family members who blog are not in HOT WATER. Family members who blog sensitive information may get their soldier in trouble, and family members who post actual classified information may be liable for criminal prosecution, same as anyone else.

What the regulations render and what they say are two different things. You don't have to "forbid" someone to do something if you just make it difficult and inconvenient enough that she will have to stop doing it on her own.

And a family member's getting a soldier in trouble is, where I come from, a family member in hot water. The Army knows that, too.

Considering the double talk so characteristic of this government, one would be crazy to defy its Big Brother, neo fascist rules. In fact, this is one more step in its drive to supress dissent of any kind. The U.S. military, for example, now wields the power to take anyone, including American citizens, into custody as “enemy combatants” in the “war on terror” and to do everything to them that the CIA and the Pentagon have done to other “enemy combatants.”

It is bad enough trying to muzzle the soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen's blogs, but to muzzle their families' blogs and their EMAILS for gawd's sake, that is beyond Thunderdome! Bleary-eyed zombie citizens of this once and future great country, put down your digital cable DVR remotes and your video game controllers and write your Congressmen expressing your outrage and then vote these clowns out of office before you too become enemies of the state for exercising your FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS.

That's ludicrous! My spouse can't control what I say politically. Teachers are not allowed to present political views - although actually teaching the curriculum constantly presents political viewpoints - to their class. Although the curriculum is often pure propaganda for past or current policy, any comment by teachers stating the obvious flaws in that curriculum can be subject to discipline for "unauthorized political activity"?
Are all government employees then to be unwilling shills for the political machinations of those elected to higher office? And, while we're at it, lets enforce shill status on their family? I can see the logic behind depoliticizing government employees. You don't want to make the bureaucracy a political arm of elected executives. But when you screen all statements from such employees for political content and disallow feedback you do promote a political viewpoint.
How do you end ridiculous policies like foreign occupations and drug wars if those who prosecute must act like good soldiers and repeat the government lies as if they were truth?

If this is true it trumps all other issues in this presidential campain. You are claiming something that christians have been searching for for eons. Least we could do is check this discovery out!

How did you discover this in the Bible? I have seen those Bible verses many times and failed to understand their context. After watch your youtube they are as plain as daylight! Why has this not become national news yet? Is Satan trying to stop this?
I almost chickened out from watching your video. A negative pressure was telling me that this was a hoax and I should get out fast! That was a false spirit! I was so moved that I am still having chills an hour after seeing this and it was powerfull beyond anything you described on your blog above. All you bloggers pay attention..What you are discussing just became dwarfed by something far more important than you can possibly imagine!
