Bush: "I Cry a Lot"

There's been a bunch of interesting stuff coming out of a new book on the Bush presidency by Robert Draper entitled "Dead Certain." But Draper, a former writer for Texas Monthly, scored nothing more interesting than Bush's claim that he cries a lot:

"I've got God’s shoulder to cry on, and I cry a lot. I’ll bet I’ve shed more tears than you can count as president."

Characteristically tortured grammar aside... what? I've always assumed that Bush's bumbling (in Iraq particularly, but elsewhere too) was borne out of an unthinking machismo that left no room for doubt or dissent. But if the president really is as reflective and contemplative as he claims (which I don't buy) how to explain his errors? Maybe instead of being arrogant and inhumane, Bush is just incompetent?

Who knows. I don't believe this crying claim any more than Karl Rove's claim that Bush read 94 books last year.

What difference does it make how much he cries if he doesn't change what he's doing? He seems like the repentant drunk who promises for the twelfth time he's going to stop.

We ALL cry a lot since you've been in office, George.

Oh ye of little faith...

One book every 4 days or so from the 75 accounted for by Dr. Seuss would leave him just 19 books to read, and over two months to do it in.

Throw in the 7 originals of the Curious George series, a few classics from the likes of James Whitcomb Riley (you know..., "Little Orphant Annie, An' the Gobble-ns 'at gits you Ef you Don't Watch Out!")and he's home free!

Yeah, but what has he been crying over? It is definitely not about his failure as a leader in the global community. It is not about his failure to be a human being. It is not his failure to uphold the constitution.

He is probably crying over Terri Schiavo, or people having consensual sex outside of marriage, or anyone who ascribes to a religion that is non-Christian. Those are the sorts of things a pinhead like George Bush would cry over.

He's probably crying because he is so unpopular! It must be hard for a former cheerleader to have a 30% approval rating. Why, look at me, I'm getting all choked up myself . . . . The poor, lonely, little rich boy all by himself in that big white house.
