it's no secret that Americans have been showing their anger at congressional Repubs
after all, they turned a lot of them out of their jobs in 2006

from what I can tell by keeping an eye on the feedback on the blogsite over at the Dem's DCCC site, they don't seem to be too thrilled with the replacements they sent, and the Dem majority in congress either

Congressman Ron Paul is in a class all by himself. He stood up to his party. He is a man of great courage, unlike the other contenders for the job. Regardless of our politic leanings, we have to admire his courage.

And how many of those respondents believe "their" representatives are doing a good job, and are therefore not part of the problem? Legislation is complicated, and six years of bad policies aren't going to be flipped in less than half a full congressional term. Right now the line that mainstream media is parroting is that "Congress is ineffective because 'nothing' has changed.

Bovine Feces! The President is pulling out all the stops to resist any meaningful changes and he has lots of tools to do that until he leaves office.

the dem controlled congress gave it to him

the president asked for an excuse to rattle his saber at Iran, and maybe spread the war there
the dem controlled congress gave it to him

the president asked for continued, unrestricted funding to occupy Iraq and Afghanistan
the den controlled congress again gave him the item on his wish list

the dems campaigned on 'transparency' in government, eliminating spending 'earmarks' and doing away with what Abramoff called 'the favor factory', where earmarks are dropped into the conference reports after both houses have passed a bill
the dems claimed to have addressed the problem

It is past time to state that a divided Congress reflects a divided citizenry. It is simply not realistic to believe that a Congress this closely divided can overturn the will of a President whose only real accomplishment is to make his major contributors and/or cronies even more fabulously wealthy. It seems that the bid for dictatorial power will fail but we dare not forget this quote, "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."

I noticed the Zogby figure - "At the same time, 45% described their personal financial situations as good."

The median income in 2005 according to the IRS was like $30,800.00/year. Down 2% since 2000. I bet the 55% describing their financial situation not good fall at and below that median mark for sure. Or, they are being optimistic - don't want to complain?
