It is kind of difficult to be found guilty when the statutes of limitation have run out. That would exclude the US Court system from determining Placa's innocence or guilt. However, the Catholic Church removed Placa from active duty because of the credibility of the accusations.

I think, in this case, Skip, that "found guilty" is either being used metaphorically by Giuliani, or else he doesn't realize that the statute has run out. Or it was something good to say...

'innocent until proven guilty' doesn't mean if there is never a court trial...he must be guilty. It is an attitude based on what is just...if we allowed a person to be villifed by another simply by uttering the words..we would have a very sad and chaotic place to live...the fact that the catholic church asked Monsignor Placa to step down is simply that they are following policy to never allow a priest 'accused' to remain for many, many reasons. Monsignor Placa agreed with and enforced this policy himself over the years. I think it's interesting that so far there is only 1 person who has come forward accusing him...is it usual for a pedophile to only have 1 victim? If this were true and an isolated act..does that make him a pedophile..or just a priest with very very bad judgment..to be sure a reprehensible act..if true..but when do we forgive and move on..if it's not true, forgive and move on anyway...
