Irrelevant Pat Robertson Endorses Rudy Giuliani

Not only is it incredibly weird that socially conservative Pat Roberston is endorsing the socially liberal Rudy Giuliani, it's weird that Giuliani would accept Robertson's endorsement. Robertson, after all, said that people like Giuliani were responsible for 9/11, an event close to Giuliani's heart. Remember this?
JERRY FALWELL: The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen'.
PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I totally concur.
What is it about the right that allows them to embrace nutjobs who say horribly offensive things long past the point they lose touch with reality?
Anyway, the Robertson endorsement is big for Giuliani, because it shows that some evangelicals, instead of abandoning the Republican Party if Giuliani gets the nod, are willing to support the former Mayor because of his perceived strengths on national security and his record in New York.
More after the jump...
Does this mean evangelicals don't care about abortion and homosexuality as much as people think? No. Frankly, I think this just underscores Robertson's irrelevance. He's a cranky old man who has been replaced by younger and more energetic leaders in his movement. Here's Tucker Carlson after Robertson suggested the assassination of Hugo Chavez:
CARLSON: Yeah, but there's an assumption here. Pat Robertson is a bit of a kook, we all know that --
GUEST: A bit of a kook?
CARLSON: -- but Pat Robertson's irrelevant to this or any other conversation.
See? Not even conservatives listen to Pat Robertson anymore.

By endorsing Rudolph Giuliani for President, CBN Evangelical Christians support federally-funded abortions, open borders, sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants and men marrying men, not to mention mass-murder in the Middle East. If there is a hell CBN evangelical Christians are all going there.

Jonny come lately,Corn beat you Jonny boy.
Pat is an opportunist and will put his money on who he thinks will win. Don't forget Pat is sly like a fox. He made $1billion from selling the family channel to ABC (Disney), not to mention his investments throughout the world. He has a law degree from Yale(who else do you know who went to Yale?), he failed to pass the bar exam, shortly thereafter underwent his religious conversion, and decided against pursuing a career in law. It is traumatic not to pass the bar.

If Pat is irrelevant, why the press over what he says. Michael Savage is relevant, and yet we do not give him any press. Go figure. Why am I even wasting my time on this? Got to run.

Very strange. It just says to me that this is going to be a strange election. A religious right leader endorses a pro-abortion, adultering liberal. What a slap in the face to Huckabee an actual baptist minister and Ron Paul a christian with ZERO divorces.Robertson seriously sold ALL his people out. I guess Robertson's now cool with abortion and adultery. Thanks Pat for delivering so many more votes to Ron Paul, Im sure a lot of Christians will now be looking for a candidate and leader w/CONSISTANT values and principles.ENTER RON PAUL!!

Politics does indeed make strange bedfellows. For Pat Robertson to endorse a transvestite who cohabited with a gay couple would not long ago have been unimaginable. But there have always been seismic shifts in the hated others; in the 1950s and 60s it was communists and African-Americans. By the 1970s and 80s it had become liberals, liberated women, homosexuals and those who have, perform or advocate abortion.
Now it is Muslims–ostensibly “Islamofascists”, but in practice all Muslims. Right wing Jews and Christians have joined forces to support the Israeli far right and an aggressive Middle East policy. One wonders what kind of backroom deal was cut between the evangelical entrepreneur who heard the divine voice after repeatedly failing the bar examination and thereby earned such Godly favor as to be able to advise the Almighty on meteorology, as well as politicians on policy.
Most likely it involves judicial appointments, as just one more radical neocon justice would turn the STAR (Scalia, Thomas, Alito and Roberts) Chamber into a solid, reliable 5 vote majority. Rudy surely wouldn’t mind selling out his erstwhile pro-choice and pro-gay rights friends for the support of Robertson’s legions, the red-state, redneck, red-ink voters who have become the party’s power base.

This strange political alliance struck me as odd. Yet when you think about it, Giuliani seems to have the best chance to beat Fundamentalism's worst nighmare, Hillary. For a non-Fundamentalist Christian point of view, check out my blog entry here http://spiritfilledpuritan.wordpress.com/2007/11/07/fundamentalisms-split-personality/

Art, Mother Jones did a report about Hillary's secret prayer Cabal. You should read it. She is a Fundamentalist, according to the article. Play it safe, vote for Obama, unless you are a night rider and like wearing the sheets and pointy hats at night.

His campaign is going really bad…he should be ahead of them all right now.
I am confused……maybe he is trying not to peak to early.
