McCain Camp Responds to "Houses" Situation... Hilariously

This is awesome or awful PR work. I'm not sure which. A collection of things McCain spokesman Brian Rogers told the Washington Post about the "How Many Houses?" scandal that is brewing:

On Obama's house:

"It's a frickin' mansion."

On the McCains' definitely-not-elitist housing habits:

"The reality is they have some investment properties and stuff. It's not as if he lives in ten houses. That's just not the case. The reality is they have four that actually could be considered houses they could use."

On how the McCain campaign apparently sees Obama:

"In terms of who's an elitist, I think people have made a judgment that John McCain is not an arugula-eating, pointy headed professor-type."

On something completely irrelevant:

"This is a guy who lived in one house for five and a half years — in prison."

A couple observations: (1) Isn't it weird how the McCain campaign simultaneously paints Obama as an effete nerd and a super-cool celebrity? (2) Noun-verb-POW!

Yeah, no joke.

While on the subject of crucial campaign issue news..., has MoJo determined who Angelina Jolie will be supporting in this election??

Any new 'talking points' from Paris Hilton??

re observation #1: Holy crap! Obama is John Cusack!!!

When is the GOP going fully unhinged and attacking Obama on everything a reasonable person would consider a positive? Obama's smart, maybe too smart (do Do DOO). Obama's popular, and where will that get him in a popular election (do Do DOO)? Obama's never killed a man (do Do DOO). Obama treats his wife with dignity (do Do DOO). Obama lives in one house (do Do DOO). Obama makes critical decisions based on the information he has at the moment (do Do DOO).

Oh, I guess they're already there.

McCain is very wealthy, and Obama should point this out when he can. It isn't irrelevant. Unless you're not a populist, and then, of course, rich is good.

Yeah, McCain is very wealthy.
John Kerry is very wealthy.
The Bush family is very wealthy.
The Kennedys are very wealthy.

And at this point in time, the wealthiest president this country has ever had was George Washington, so not only is it a very old story, it's also a non-issue as far as whether a wealthy person is destined to be a bad president (Washington himself settled that question).

There are much more important issues facing the voters of this nation than which of the wealthy candidates from the two wings of our ruling party has more in the bank, or has more houses, or which is the bigger celebrity. However, if the American voter is happy being fed such pablum, rather than demanding that issues of genuine substance be in the forefront, and that the candidates take actual stands on those issues, then all I can say is:
A - It's no surprise that Nascar garners more of our attention than where our political candidates stand on real issues.
And:
B - We deserve what we've been getting, and we'll keep on getting it as long as we keep on deserving it.

Believe me, Mother Jones and their twin sisters in the MSM aren't going to make it change. They're going to keep on doing the lazy thing, and feeding us what we keep showing an appetite for.

If it changes, it'll be because We Demand It.

Speaking strictly for myself: I Demand Change in the way campaigns are run, and in the way campaigns are covered!!

The biggie is that McCain didn't know how many houses he had. That is a real biggie. Since McCain didn't know how many houses he has, how can he be any benefit to the rest of us, who expect him to know how to help the economy for us; otherwise McCain is of no use at all to the common population of the United States.

This doofus is running for President of the United States of America?! I'm just waiting for McCain to come out and say "I know you are but what am I".

Uh huh..., and while they're being questioned by reporters about this nonsense, they are NOT answering questions from reporters about our occupation of two foreign countries, our military presence in 130 foreign countries, our collapsing dollar, the lies that were told to get an invasion of Iraq launched, and the stupid lawmakers who voted to make it possible, and dozens of other things that are of real consequence to the American public.
Those questions aren't being asked, because these questions are, and the public is fed on the perception that these questions are the ones that matter.

Justify it for them if you're inclined to, but I am not.

I'm after something better in the way of political debate, and I intend not to be distracted by trivialities.

Come on, who cares. Of COURSE McCain has ten houses, you have to be hugely (and independently) wealthy to even CONTEMPLATE making a bid for the president slot.

Good grief. Who gives a damn. We need to be pressing both candidates for more firm plans on wars and international relations, how to address global warming, how to minimalize budget waste and streamline tax code...

Vanity and Arrogance is the Achilles heel of anyone the likes of McSlime, Bush, Cheney and all the neo-cons that may not call themselves Elitist but display all those qualities. The Truth about McQuaker oats, tax cut for the rich, protect the corporations, more wars to get war machine rich, alienate the world because they are not Judeo-Christian. Bottom line, McInsane is neither christian nor sane, but a war monger and a lap dog Bush supporter. I guess he has his own Army to fight the next war. Oh, maybe Black lagoon or water will fight his wars.

The problem for McCain isn't the number of houses Cindy bought for him it's that he can't remember how many houses Cindy bought for him.

I can see it now McCain as a President, like George Bush who cannot string two thoughts together let alone speak.

John McCain: Cindy, what country did I bomb last week I can't remember!

Cindy: I am not sure John ..I am so sorry I am strung out on codeine right now. We'll ask one of the advisors tomorrow.
McCain: Okay dear. Oh did you see where I put my missile launcher?
Cindy: John ...you don't have a missile launcher.
More incompetence in the Whitehouse, do we need 4 more years of this with an old forgetful man?
Please, he is showing signs of brain wear right now!

John McCain's idea of an Energy Plan is a month's supply of viagra, and metamucil.

Damn! you're a bad man, You need a spanking. Maybe Cindy McCain will do ya.
