Sarah Palin and Pretty, Experience Talk
Stepping back from the "feminist for life," NRA-lifer, creationist, global-warming skeptic VP credentials for a sec, a few things are really annoying me about the Sarah Palin coverage. She's a woman, she's pretty, she's a mom with a gaggle of kids, and she's as green as DC politics gets. Though why do these descriptors get listed out as if they're stacked arguments toward the same end? Mitt Romney is pretty and has five kids, but if he had gotten the nom we wouldn't be referring to him as a looker with familial obligations, at least not when we're landing on his shortcomings. I know, people are doing so to point out the tokenism of McCain's pick, but it's frustrating how "beauty pageant good looks" and female are so often precursors to "don't know jack."
And the experience thing, sure, she's fresh out of Northern Exposure territory (Men in Trees for the millenial set), but slamming her lack of DC credentials is EXACTLY what the McCain team wants Dems to do. The first word out of the Obama camp yesterday? Palin has "zero foreign policy experience." Sorry, can't have it both ways. The counter-argument is, 'at least our presidential candidate does, and last time we checked the prez tops the ticket, meets with world leaders, and gets to hit the war button.' As we all know, the "zero foreign policy experience" phrase has been used for years now to describe Obama. Essentially the Republicans are putting experience back in play, and they're going to let the Dems keep it alive. As Palin's naivete is played up, rich material only beginning to be mined, it will, McCain hopes at least, make him the wise, experienced one, with Palin and Obama the pretty neophytes. Not a fair comparison by a longshot, but fair and nuance are not what the stretch run of presidential campaigns are known for. Palin's lack of fitness for the job will only help keep this dialogue in play. And the question McCain wants on people's minds when they enter the voting booth come November: Do you want experience in your president or your vice president?
Pretty ugly, I know.

I'm sure the Republicans are just waiting for the dems to go all negative on Palin. The least criticism, and it'll be just like Bush on Gonzales: "It's, it's cuz he's Hispanic, see." They'll say we were all about Hillary, sure, but when they put a woman up, look what happens. So who's really the progressive party here, hmm? And if the voters fall for that, well, is there such a thing as a progressive militia? I'm joining it.
I think that's why Obama shouldn't play it straight up as a political experience thing, per se. He should go more for a sophisticated enough to understand how diverse this world really is thing, because his travel abroad, his understanding of diverse culture are LIFE experiences, not political ones. Early on in the campaign he spoke of how his familial exposure to other parts of the world influenced his understanding of the importance of strong diplomacy. So if anything, they should avoid the word 'experience' like the plague over at the Obama camp, but play it more like this:
My pitch: Camera showing Palin as the announcer says, "Sarah Palin knows the great state of Alaska, [images of igloos, a sunset over snow] but that isn't quite understanding the world [montage shots of Barack and/or Biden shaking hands with various foreign leaders and dignitaries]. We know John McCain's answer to conflicts abroad: [montage clips of the word 'war' coming out of his mouth; at least seven or eight times] Our brave and committed army is stretched thin in Iraq and Afghanistan [show clips of Barack smiling and shaking hands with soldiers on a brown and dusty tarmac in Iraq, but Barack not too much in the center of the shot to keep it subtle and avoid a superstar accucation]. When the next tense stand off happens somewhere out there [camera roving slowly over map of the world, maybe photo shopped to seem a little cold in color or vaguely reddish and menacing] how do you want YOUR country to respond? [Finish with an appropriate quote from a DNC insider or from Obama himself that ties the whole theme together and sounds tough but hopeful and fair all at once.]"
It could use a little cleaner finish, but I think you might get the idea. Don't belittle Alaska [the Rove spin will pick up where 'bittergate' left off, implying that the Obama campaign is making fun of our state governments and 'the people'] but subtly underscore how out of our mainstream it really is, hence the igloos, maybe even Eskimo squinting into a dim sunset, but definitely follow it up with a picture of white Alaskan workers hanging off of an oil derek and if you're lucky, spilled oil showing up filthy and disturbing on the white snow beneath them, a subtle nod to pollution without saying anything specific.

Maybe the best thing to do is let them destroy themselves by doing nothing. It is a little scary thinking how old and sickly McCain is and how close she would be when there is a candidate who really can make a difference and has great global charisma, something we sorely need. Can she attract a crowd of 300,000 in Germany?
I could just imagine her and McSame getting scorched at a debate, even with all the wonderful questions the MSM media will come up with like lapel pins and other powder-puff questions, designed just for them. They won't dare ask anything of substance so she won't even have to have her script rehearsed by then.
Problem is, the election is only a month away. It will be interesting how foolish they look if they go down to New Orleans and pretend like they really care. Just print more money, that'll fix everything. Keep rebuliding a city that is under sea level and will continually get hit by stronger and stronger hurricanes.
I hate to say it, but a lot of Americans don't vote for a candidate for their experience or intelligence (I'm referring to McSame on the latter.) You have to remember that millions watch FOX and really think Obama is a Muslim and there are a significant of racists in this country. I'd say about 20 percent looking at the difference between Bush's popularity and McSame's.
I'd bet there would be a bunch of pretty angry senators working for someone with a bachelor's degree in journalism and making more than them after they went to all the trouble and expense of going to law school. She'd even be Obama's boss. Wouldn't that be a kick in the groin?

Plain and simple. Get out there and do something about it gang. I am, albeit not as much as I should be. If you're in a red state, go and work for a blue senator, especially if there isn't one there now.
Worst case scenario, McSame steals an election and is just like Bush with his childishness, veto's on everything and signing statements. Our senate can't override any of the veto's and probably won't be able to.
So work for Obama. We need you. PLEASE!!!

The bottom line is McCain is 72 year old and has health problems and could die today or tomorrow! When this sinks in and people start to reflect and consider what a President Palin REALLY means due to her very real lack of national and international issues, policies and procedures, and her intellectual capacity or incapacity, people in all good conscience, for the safety and welfare of this country, will not vote for McCain. He has made a colossal mistake in judgment.

I agree with the tact that the Dems should ignore her, and not get aggressive in their attacks. She should be held beneath contempt, below the radar, and painted politely as totally without merit, not even deserving of a calculated response.
For once, Obama acting aloof will work in this case.
