I actually encountered somebody trying to sell the Bill Ayers ghostwrote Obama's book. I pointed out that Obama was the President of the Harvard Law Review and is probably a better writer than Ayers. The winger didn't respond.

I think an activist at Columbia might have been especially sensitive to the possibility that extremists were working the same territory and would have strived to avoid having their own efforts tainted by the association.
