Obama Derangement Syndrome Watch

I guess I shouldn't really be surprised at anything Andy McCarthy says these days, but he somehow manages to surprise me anyway with some regularity.  Here he is telling us the real reason Barack Obama has been restrained in his public statements about Iran:

The fact is that, as a man of the hard Left, Obama is more comfortable with a totalitarian Islamic regime than he would be with a free Iranian society.

Believe it or not, it goes downhill from there: McCarthy thinks Obama actually wanted to make a statement supporting the mullahs, but that wouldn't have gone over well with Joe Sixpack.  So he did the next best thing and stayed quiet.  Still, "Obama has a preferred outcome here, one that is more in line with his worldview, and it is not victory for the freedom fighters."

Also worth noting is that in the spirit of true paranoids everywhere, McCarthy manages to twist his theory so that it explains all of Obama's actions, both past and future.  No matter what Obama does — whether he speaks up or not — it will be in service of his overarching hard Left ideology and the volcanic anger and resentment that controls his life.

Somebody really needs to have a little chat with Rich Lowry.  I don't expect a lot from National Review these days, but McCarthy's public descent into madness isn't pretty to watch and doesn't do the magazine any favors.  Maybe it's time to ask him to work out his issues a little more privately.

UPDATE: I missed this the first time around, but to his credit, Lowry does respond to McCarthy here.  Remarkably (or not, perhaps), McCarthy then digs himself in even deeper here.  "I detect in your post a sense that I'm this close to the fringe," he says.  Well, there's no need to sense what I'm saying in my post, Andy.  You are batshit crazy.

"One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist"

So the "Green" protestors in Iran are terrorists as the Iranian governmant claims?

BTW, is Mr McCarthy really aware of Mousavi's past history of "reform" and just how different Tehran would be under a Mousavi regime?

Okay, you've got to love

Okay, you've got to love Lowry's comment. It's the bare minimum Lowry can write to justify his own self-image as a reasonable person without treading on the brittle sensibilities of NRO readers. I wonder if the dim-witted but not irrational members of the conservative punditocracy ever get together and compare notes on how they balance their own tainted honor and integrity with placating the slavering hordes?

National Review:

I posted this elsewhere, but I'm too lazy to retype, so,

I was considering a measured response to the staff of the National Review, but after reviewing the logical content of their opinions, I've decided instead on this:
why don't you all go screw yourselves ?
There, I feel so much better ! I've achieved intellectual parity.

Giving stupidity a bad name ...

Criminy. Setting aside the merely generic-brand ideological nonsense, when did Iran's theocracy become a 'left wing' regime? Did I blink and miss it?

Okay, I understand how the whole religious fundamentalism thing is awkward if you're on the right, but that's no excuse for an extra double dose of BS.

Over and over again

This has happened earlier and earlier during the last three administrations. I have to say that I don't remember Kevin getting too upset about it before 1/20/09. Surprise, surprise, surprise.

McCarthy vs Hanson

McCarthy is nuts. What I would like to see is McCarthy and VD Hanson interact. McCarthy thinks it is very clear that Obama is governing as a hard left-wing ideologue while VD Hanson argues that Obama is fulfilling Bush's third term in office. McCarthy and Hanson repeatedly return to their respective theses again and again. Yet neither tries to rebut the other.

It is odd that McCarthy and Hanson--nor anyone else at The Corner--ever confronts each other's interpretation of Obama.

What If Obama's Out of His Mind?

"It took a county commissioner from Ohio to convince me. It is important to note here that county commissioners are of a lower political phylum than most other politicians. They do not walk entirely upright across the savanna, and their political thumbs are not necessarily opposable. As witness Mike Kilburn, a commissioner in Warren County in Ohio. In April, the county was supposed to receive $373,000 in federal stimulus money from President Barack Obama's economic recovery plan. This money was meant to go to the laudable purpose of buying buses and vans for the rural communities. The Warren County Board of Commissioners turned down the money, and Kilburn announced, with a curious kind of pride, "I'll let Warren County go broke before taking any of Obama's filthy money."

Until that moment, I didn't fully realize how deeply what Obama's been trying to do had penetrated the entire country, and how deeply it had sunk into the lizard brain that had controlled American society for the previous eight years. On January 20, Barack Obama became president of a deranged nation. He did so apparently taking no notice of the fact that a good portion of the country, a country that otherwise repeatedly voiced its support for him in poll after poll after poll, continued to be completely out of its mind. He was calm and reasoned, and he spoke in measured tones about the challenges he and the nation were facing. And then he seemed to go manic on us."

So much projection, as always

These nuts are always accusing the left of what THEY themselves do!

1: ""equal rights" and "social justice" are always more rally-cry propaganda than real goals for totalitarians, and hatred of certain groups is always a feature of their societies."

2. "...fueled in anger and resentment over what he chooses to see in America's history"

This is a good one: 3. "...as Democrats became nervous that his silence would become a winning political round for Republicans" (let's see - who's been nervous, complaining) ... most people agree w/Obama's stance, incl Repubs

The one real truth is the last phrase: "...and strength of the sort that ought to frighten us"

And does he think he enhances his communication with his audience with the word "dirigiste"? Sounds fancy-schmancy, but the point is to get your message out - FAIL!

Yikes, I could only scan the article - that much crazy just wears me out!

Obama's administration is

Obama's administration is challenged by the economic crisis that the country is facing. That's why, the government is adapting new ways to earn profits. And one of those is auctions online on Govdeals. Govdeals has auctions open for all kinds of federal surplus, ranging from service equipment to stuff they've seized, and there are some great deals to be had. The lots include ambulances and fire trucks, and an operational ferry, and some of this stuff goes for cheap. That's Ridiculous

The White House certainly does not prefer the rule of theocratic mullahs.

That doesn't mean they are prepared to do anything about it, of course, but they are certainly against such rule.
