I didn't count the number then, but the same was basically true of the local Los Angeles stations a few weeks ago when the Lakers had their parade.

No, the point is where we talk about the decline of mainstream journalism to the level of "Teen People" magazine. Speaking only for myself, I care a great deal about that. And if I cared about Michael Jackson, one channel would be enough.

had rated Jackson coverage a flop, today's activities would be relegated to E! or some other such C-SPAN equivalent for entertainment. But of course the initial spike in viewership associated with the unexpected death of a 50-year-old with huge name recognition caused the program directors at the networks to see dollar signs.
Doubtless the circus will lead the nightly news programs tonight (with breathless reminders that nonstop coverage can be had on their affiliated cable stations).
The only saving grace is, given the attention span of the American public, by tomorrow noon it'll be mostly over (except for the rumors of the autopsy findings dribbling out...aargh!)

No offense to Michael, but is anyone blogging about chinese race riots? These seem like modern day pogroms complete with crazy rumors and official propaganda.

Teen People is where you won't find that Optical chick -- when she was a teenager, there was no "People" let alone a teen edition.

I doubt he was a pederast. Once they are identified, they are quite easy to catch and convict – probably due to the obsessive nature of their criminal behavior. MJ was just a garden variety basket case with too much money.
