More on Good Gov't: Obama Pushing for Change at the DNC

Consistent with Obama's fundraising policy, the Democratic National Committee announced today it will no longer take donations from registered federal lobbyists and PACs. "Our presumptive nominee has pledged not to take donations from Washington lobbyists and from today going forward the DNC makes that pledge as well," said Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean.

This is not only a sign that Obama will insist that the standards of his campaign become the standards for the whole Democratic Party (I anticipate fewer attacks on the Republican candidate from liberal-leaning independent 527s this cycle, as well), but also a sign that Obama is really, really confident in his ability to raise all the money he needs. An earlier indication of this confidence: Obama is considering limiting the size of the donations he will accept in the general election.

The Politico says Obama's confidence is justified. See my other post for details.

Finally a good sign in that awful old institution of money buying influence in Washington. Combine this with the decision to seat some of the delegates from here in Fl and I suppose its finally time for me and my fellow uncounted voters to forgive the DNC. I guess I'll be breaking out my check book pretty soon, now if only enough people do the same we could get money to flood into the DNC like it does to Obama.

The biggest news story of the day...conveniently all-but-ignored by big media...

I'm with Nic. This is great news, but will most likely go unrecognized. Let's hope this standard stays in place for a while to prevent insiders from buying their in Washington.

'cuse me, but this "new change" is still a distinction without a difference. If you're really commited to bringing about change in our monied political system:

1st - visit factcheck.org regarding Obama's own use of this new financing shellgame.

2nd - by looking at the amount of money Obama raised under this new fundraising scheme, there is now ever more ways to get special interest money to a candidate than ever before.

If you really call this improvement in democracy, then I suggest your expectations are exceedingly low.

vicki, do you have a link for the story about obama's financing shellgame? i searched the site, and the closest thing i found was a story about how obama used to take money from PAC's, and still takes money from former (not active) lobbyists.

Obama is not even the second Black President(We all know that Bill came before Obama). Well, that Republican, Warren G. Harding was Black. the Hardings were considered poor white trash of dubious racial background, and when young Warren proposed marriage to his future much-suffering wife, her father was outraged, believing him to have African blood.
