ProPublica: Bush's Presidency, Harper's Index-style
From ProPublica:
Number of Illegal immigrants deported in 2001: 110,000. In 2008: 350,000.
Number of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests in 2000: 2.2 million. In 2007: 21.8 million
Number of personnel who process FOIA requests in 2000: 5,378. In 2007: 5,367
It's pretty grim reading. But it confirms that we were right to throw that particular bum out.
[Also, speaking of ProPublica, check out their nifty 'Degrees of Hank Paulson' interactive game while you're there.]

I actually got the January 2009 issue of Harper's in the mail today and it has a special three page Index. It's pretty interesting. For example, "Percentage change since 2001 in U.S. government spending on paper shredding: +466."
Bush - such a liar that he doesn't even know the meaning of the word. As is the whole right wing of the repub party.
His accomplishments:
The destruction of our economy so his buddies could earn billions speculating and further shipping good jobs overseas.
The war in Iraq, based on lies, whose focus cause us to fail to kill Bin Ladin when he was trapped in the mountains - I think it was late 2001. Pray for our dead troops.
His turning the whole party into some sort of religious cult where lies are absolute truth, and Bush is the demigod. Reminds me of how Japanese culture considered their emperor Hirohito a demi-god. And they followed him into ruin in wwii.
His use of religious hatred against gay people in this nation. If Baby boy bush had run for Governor of Arkansas bsck in the 50's (?) his name would have been Orville Faubus, the good christian who said "never" re integration.
But we will shortly celebrate the inauguration of a Black Man as president. The super stick in the eye of the republican base in the deep south, full of right wing churches on every corner, who longed for the "good old days".
What do you mean, we were right to throw the bum out? He hit a term limit and sadly, over 50% of this country voted to keep him in office just 4 years ago. I find it hilarious that I can't find a single person who will admit to voting for Bush in 2004.
I strongly agree with Melissa. And, even going beyond the voting, the Iraqi jail abuses were not committed in person by George or Dicky... we Americans have a lot to answer for.
Some bad things happened in America that had nothing to do with Bush. To me his only negative is that he is so easy to blame - but we don't expect much more from Americans anyway.
Earl, yeah some bad things happened without Bush's help, but he made every one of them worse. He magnified the disasters, where a different leader could have mitigated them.
Come on folks! Look at the accomplishments:
Medicare Plan D, No child left behind, Patriot Act, Homeland Security...
Heck of a job, W!
