Huckabee: God Responsible for My Rise in Polls

There is so much about Christian evangelicals that coastal liberals don't understand. Like how a man of obvious intelligence can attribute his rise in the polls to mass prayer and God's will.

Huckabee backtracked slightly after this appearance, adding, "I'm saying that when people pray, things happen.... I'm not saying that God wants me to be elected."

Huckabee, who is taking first and second in national polls of the Republican race nowadays, told GQ recently that it isn't fair that he gets so much scrutiny for his faith while the other candidates don't. He can't make those complaints with a straight face if he's going to go around saying stuff like this.

America needs to decide if they are ready for a president who literally sees God in the details. Doesn't the idea of getting God to do what you want through prayer contradict the very idea of being a governor or president? Because you wouldn't need to pass and sign laws to get things done if God can really create new realities if you ask for them.

And speaking of, I'm willing to be bet an awful lot of people (more than those who are praying for Huckabee's rise) have been praying for Roe v. Wade to be overturned. Weird how that hasn't happened.

Ask the Huckster if Sonny Perdues prayers have been answered. The last time I checked, Georgia was still in a major drought

So, if things happen when people pray, then is no one praying for any other candidate? What about Romney's supportors? Do they pray? If they do, has God decided that Huckabee is His choice? Does God listen to Baptists over Mormons? What about lapsed Catholics like Guiliani? Is his drop in the polls God's punishment?

This is getting very complicated. I think I'll just settle for: hinting that your major opponent is not really 'one of us' is pretty effective with the evangelicals.

What happens if the rest of the Rethuglicans all pray just as earnestly as Huckabee? Will that mean that God favors Huckabee over the others?

Nothing has ever happened through prayer that could not be explained by other channels. Otherwise "God" would have had zillions of chances to intervene - "he" never has. It is plain ignorance and everlasting (I hope not) superstition.
The evangelicals are the HIV of human intellect.

What a huge ego to think God
chooses and supports political
candidates, and that God ("It")is involved with human
activities at all!!!! Humans are endowed with "free will" and create their own destiny.

So god has chosen Huckabee, eh? OK, so if Huckabee doesn't win, what conclusion do we draw? That god then abandoned Huckabee? Or that Huckabee was simply delusional and would do well to abandon his god? The clock's tickin', Mikey-boy.

Dear God. I pray everyday that we can get God and religion out of politics and back in the churches where it belongs. Please, no more Christian Right; no more God is the reason for "my rise in the polls," and so on. Yikes!

Are we ready for a President who literally sees God in the details? We already have one of those. Huckabee can't say that with a straight face? He doesn't have a straight face. No worries.

I'm a progressive Democrat in South Carolina. For those of you coastal liberals who think it might be a good idea to build a broad and deep progressive coalition, you might try not being so snide to religious people. Just a thought.

I am a Rudy man, but I bel1eve Huckabee, bacause God has done the same miracles for me. It is simple. When you join with Jesus and learn to talk with him all the time, then you will learn what it is like to be a miracle yourself.
Try it, you'll like it,

Huckabee or Huckafeller?
Given America's current situation with the War in Iraq, you would think that people would be a little suspicious of any Presidential candidate that just emerges from nowhere with little in the way of individual donations. Perhaps a recap of America's situation is in order. The current administration misled (at best) the American people about WMDs in Iraq in order to get us into war. Why? Alan Greenspan, a strong and connected republican, says it was due to oil interests. That's right. There are people that profit from war. The Bush family has always had close associations with big oil. What other families come to mind when we think of big oil? The Rockefellers that owned Standard Oil come to mind. The Rockefellers are still one of the most powerful families in the world with financial interests in oil, banking, media, and everything between. What does this have to do with Mike Huckabee? Are you aware that his Lieutenant Gov was Winthrop P. Rockefeller? A man that died with a net worth of $1.2 billion dollars? How is that for connected? The Rockefellers wield considerable influence in Arkansas. This brings me to another President that appeared out of nowhere....Bill Clinton. Yes, another Arkansas governor. Am I the only one "gun shy" after the 20 years of the Bush and Clinton dynasties? Maybe I am just paranoid. Maybe Mike Huckabee just fell from the sky to deliver us all. Or maybe we are all just easily manipulated. If you think it couldn't happen, try researching the Gulf on Tonkin lie that got us into Vietnam. We were lied to about Vietnam, Iraq, and now Iran. Our faith has been manipulated by money. Maybe sometimes we just cannot handle the truth. God DID NOT put Huckabee on the map. The Rockefellers did.

I've not observed anyone paying attention to what Huckabee is saying. All you are doing is picking him apart and bashing him, but you know good and well he is by far the best candidate for the presidency. He never "backtracked" on anything. He simply says how he feels, and he stands by it. God isn't endorsing Huckabee, but you're talking about God like He is a bad guy. Huckabee can bring this country (or those of us who are believers) back to God. This is an amazing thing. I believe in God, and I believe in Huckabee. So, if you want to vote for Zombie Hillary or Pro-Choice (that's right. Pro-Choice.) Giuliani, go ahead, but you've no blessing of mine. I can't speak for God, but he will make you see.

Also, the YouTube video is ENTIRELY inaccurate. He doesn't support tuition breaks or anything like that for illegal immigrants. He believes in strengthening our borders and cracking down on illegal immigration, but he also realizes that we are a better nation that to punish the children for the crime or sin of the parent. He wants those children to be legalized, have the same (not superior, and not inferior) rights and opportunities that we have, and he wants to help them grow into good, tax-paying (Fair Tax, that is!) law-abiding citizens of the United States of America. Before forming such a horrible and tasteless opinion, you may want to read up on your subject and get some real facts. Try www.mikehuckabee.com for the real deal in politics.

Southern Baptist theology is clear in its belief that Roman Catholics, liberal Protestants and most other Christians, not to mention Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and others, are condemned to spend eternity in hell. His Weltanschauung is shaped by his beliefs, a dangerous thing in a pluralistic society and world.

Anybody who believes, in 2007, that the Universe is about 6000 years old does not have the critical reasoning skills necessary to being a good president. Agree or disagree?

The reason why science cannot bring back a dead is because the "intellect" of man is way too primitive vis-a-vis with God. It is true that there are many false religions that exist and if you don't know what makes them false, you should stop bashing them coz you look like the blind leading the blind. Man's science cannot create DNA from scratch but the so called "lower forms" of life like plants and trees can. Unless you guys can claim you're more "intellligent" than the grain of corn, which is just a dot of starch but miraculously can form a bunch of DNAs, you should stop bashing on God. There is much intelligence that science cannot answer and that "intelligence" would someday reveal Himself that you'd come to a conclusion and would say "I'm such an idiot, I hope I wasn't been born at all". IF YOU CAN'T ANSWER WHERE THOSE INTELLIGENCE ARE COMING FROM, BEWARE !! You would pay for it very dearly. Huckabee, winning or not, is not the main picture. Your soul is.

The Christian right (and other fed up conservatives) are supporting Mike Huckabee, but the right’s pundits are not flocking to support him, and many of them are actually trying to derail him. Case in point:

Something is very very very very wrong with this picture. Bottom line: The best candidate for the Republican nomination is Huckabee.

This inerrant ass quite possibly wants to start an apocalypse to hurry the return of Jesus. Jesus is the one who should go to hell for all the delusional lives he has ruined. But then he is just a fairy tale that Gore invented.

Seek first to understand, and then to be understood.

What bothers you more - that he believes these things, or that he says them out loud, publicly?

Someone had to object, and of course it would be Mother Jones. Objecting to Mr. Huckabee's remarks does not require smarts, nor fearlessness, so this piece doesn't really live up to vision this magazine has for itself.

Should you not at least seek to understand these things:
1. He speaks his beliefs out loud, rather than trying to hide them, or pretend to be something he's not.
2. His message resonates with a lot of people in this country. Some of these people are your neighbors, and all of them are your fellow countrymen.
3. How can we make one nation again, rather than 'your president,' or 'my president?'
4. How is it that a man, comfortable about talking about his beliefs (in a nation of free speech), is so anathema to you that it overshadows any other issues that are important to the country's future? Why is this important enough to spend a blog post on?
