Cheney on America's Opposition to the War: "So?"

Vice President Cheney took to ABC to call the war a "major success" and to dismiss the will of the American public:

CHENEY: On the security front, I think there's a general consensus that we've made major progress, that the surge has worked. That’s been a major success.
MARTHA RADDATZ: Two-third of Americans say it’s not worth fighting.
CHENEY: So?
RADDATZ So? You don’t care what the American people think?
CHENEY: No. I think you cannot be blown off course by the fluctuations in the public opinion polls.

While we're contemplating whether we still live in a representative democracy, let's take a look at some long-term Pew polls that illustrate exactly what the American people think.

Three neat graphs from the good folks at Pew:

Hahahahahaha! Hey Mr. Cheney, great job lampooning those crazy right-wing reality-denying hawkish old fools! OMG, great impression!

Oh. Oh, wait.

For some reason, I try to post links to Cheney explaining in 94 why Bush 1 should not have gone into Iraq. These always get blocked.

Please go to You Tube and search "Cheney iraq". Watch:
Cheney on Invading Iraq - 9/14/1992
Cheney in 1994 on Iraq

THis guy is all over the map. It is too bad that the DNC lacked the cahones to use these in commercials in 2004.

I wonder if he feels the same way about the "Public Opinion Polls" that Americans hold every 4 years in November?

I hope Cheney enjoys his post-Administration job as Chairman of soon to be formed "Uber Global Petroleum", where he will command a 9-figure salary from his 250 foot yacht in an undisclosed location in the Indian Ocean.

Man, this really frustrates me. I can't believe we have a politician brazen enough to think that the public doesn't matter. He just writes us all off.

"Fluctuations in the public opinion poles"?? How patronizing! These aren't [deleted] poles - these are real people showing real anger toward a policy that sucks.

This is just one more piece of evidence that Cheney doesn't believe in democracy or the will of the people. I wish we could impeach him for these statements!

Bush and Cheney should not have beeen able to become leaders. The Supreme court (a branch of gov) should not have the power to subvert the will of the people and chose their president (another branch of gov). They tricked the people out of their country. The rest will be history. An advanced, educated society (I thought) should not have allowed it to happen. It is also a shame that Gore, Obama and/or Clinton really could possibly bring the nation together, under the power of Love and Logic. But, alas, Mr. Obama won't be president, Mrs. Clinton won't be president either. This nation can not be great because the male children of arrogant greedy, White-males have been taught too well how to lie, steal, cheat, hold political and money power until the inevitable collapse of a nation...like Rome. Somebody lied when I was seventeen...I thought Love was greater than Hate. I thought God was Love. Forgive my impudence of believing "good" in man-kind.

March 20th, 2008

You have to realize this Dick has no emotions at all. All he cares about is GREED! No matter how many American Troops have been Killed In The Line of Duty (over 5,000 and counting) or how many American Troops have been left Permanently Paralyzed and Disabled for Life (over 30,000 & counting). 250,000 Iraq Citizens Killed and counting.

"Emperor George W. Bush and his Dick as in shoot your best friend in the face Cheney have and continue to cause the 'Daily' Suffering and Deaths of American Poor, Disabled, Senior Citizens, Children, G.L.B.T. Community, Veterans and the Unemployed by Economic Deprivation. It leaves no finger prints at the crime scene."

Emperor George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are both Psychopaths. They have no guilt for any of their actions.

America is to be run as a Democracy to be ruled as a True Republic, not a Fascist Dicatorship. This is what happens when we have Republicunts living in our White House and in the Old Navy Observatory residents. They are to work for us but as we have seen for the past 7+ years they continue to live off the largest Welfare Program America operates.

The only way to get rid of them is to have Emperor Bush and his Dick Impeached! The two of them are the worst 'Thug's' we have ever had in America. They care nothing for human life, only for their own lives. Lynn Cheney works at the Heritage Foundation. This is the Far Right Fascist Think Tank for the Republicunts. You could compare it to a Nazi Think Tank during the time when Hitler was in power!

Danger! Danger Will Robinson! Wake Up America as we have Laws and Impeachment is the only way to get rid of these Fascist Thugs and send them to Jail where they can each be someone's bitch for the rest of their life. Throw away the key while they are at it.

If the Impeachment process starts late, Emperor Bush and his Dick can still be Impeached. They may run but they can never hide. Nazi's flew to South America after WWII and they were hunted down and held on charges for the crimes they caused while they were in office.

Here is a Toll Free Number you can call the Capitol Switchboard and ask for your U.S. Congressperson and U.S. Senators to call to have Emperor Bush and his Dick Impeached! Go to the Web Page of your U.S. Congressperson and U.S. Senators and demand the Impeachment of Emperor Bush and his Dick. Remember, that only the U.S. House of Representatives can call for the Impeachment of Emperor Bush and his Dick. Be sure to find who your U.S. Congressperson is that represents your state and ask for them when you call. They will connect you to their office.

Sweet Jesus, I hate Cheney and his little puppet Georgie. How cocky to sit there with that smug grin and say 'so'. I hope everyone who voted for Bush is hurting in this mess we're in, unfortunately, the rest of us got caught in the mess.

As horrible is it to admit, Cheney is probably the most honest man in the regime in that he says publicly what his peers doubtless say among themselves.

Never was there clearer proof for the American public that our country is totally controlled by a global corporatist Empire only hiding behind the facade of this 'vichy' government --- currently headed by the faux-emperor Bush and his vice emperor.

Unfortunately, most Americans, in wishful ignorance, believe that the 2008 election of a Democratic headed government will end this tragedy ---- whereas, it will only switch the 'vichy' party fronting for the exact same global corporatist Empire.

It is the corporatist Empire and not Cheney's arrogant contempt of democracy that is the real and continuing existential threat to the US --- and the world.

"MARTHA RADDATZ: Two-third of Americans say it’s not worth fighting."

Interesting how that is not supported by the PEW graphs.
The 'three neat graphs' actually show support for the war or a split except for one blip that may not be statistically significant. Certainly not enough make changes in important policies that initially enjoyed widespread support.

Feb 2008 was split on staying in Iraq. How is it undemocratic for them to diagree with you?

From Thomas A. Porter "The only way to get rid of them is to have Emperor Bush and his Dick Impeached!"

Um, actually their term is over within a year. Sheesh!

Injustice is relatively easy to bear; what stings is justice.

Funny,...not one mention of the influence/impact of the
"useful idiot" christian zionists(now THERE`S an oxymoron!) who, in their demented, religion-intoxicated
quest to carry water for the Christ-killers in their selfish hopes for salvation and rapturgasm, drag America
and it`s unwilling/unwitting victims down the sh*tter with their delusional hopes of achieving their selfish aims.

Actually, this is quite consistent with the US being a representative democracy: the people elect their representatives, but to an extent give them a free rein to act - they signal their approval or otherwise at the next election. What you're thinking of is a consultative democracy, which is far less common, and relies on the use of referenda etc. The recall of Gray David was a rare example of this in the US. Places like Switzerland make far more use of it.

(None of this detracts from the fact that Dick Cheney is a throbbing pustule on Satan's sweaty perineum and deserves to spend eternity licking batteries in Peoria.)
