Freedom's Watch Finds Its Inner Mother Theresa
Conservative advocacy group Freedom's Watch, funded by billionaires such as Las Vegas casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, a famously fierce critic of labor unions (see core issue area three here, "Standing up to Big Labor's radical agenda"), revels in its newly discovered economic populist streak.
Yesterday, it launched an ad attacking House Democrats and speaker Nancy Pelosi for "doing nothing" to reduce high gas prices.
Today, it sends out emails attacking Congressional Democrats for being responsible for the housing crisis, the bad economy, and more high gas prices. And it's rebranded itself as "mainstream," too: "'It is truly astonishing that two years after assuring the American people they possessed a ‘commonsense plan’ to combat high gas prices, Congressional Leaders are still struggling to put one together,' said Ed Patru, spokesman for Freedom’s Watch, a mainstream conservative issues advocacy organization," the group emails.
What's next? After all, with Adelson's fortune valued at $28 billion by Forbes this year, an expressed commitment by the former Boston cabbie to donate $200 million a year to charitable causes he favors, and given the fact that that, according to a recent column by George Will, Adelson's casino empire is now the single largest foreign investor in China, Adelson alone would be in a position to make a meaningful contribution to those Americans losing their homes in foreclosures and consumers hurting at the gas pump. Stay tuned, as they say.

Laura dear, you forget to mention that Adelson with 28 billions makes him the nation's third riches person and he is a Jewish right winger that supports Likud Zionists. War with Iran is a certainty with this type of money behind it.
leave the man alone. this is america and this country is about producing billionaires.
american people want capitalism now live with it.
and the euro is doing how well against the dollar?
americans are selfish, individualistic, arrogant, and war mongering.
karma time in america.
now go spend those 1200 dollar checks before the dollar zeros out.
easy to control americans just send them a free check every few years from borrowed chinese money and keep opening up new wal marts and putting pay day loans on every corner.

Cor Blimey Mate: Doesn't this takes you back to the days when Georgie W. used to exclaim how adhering to the Kyoto treaty on climate change would wreck the ecomony, this when he wasn't crying over everyone's dependence on Middle East oil.
Georgie'd get all emotional: Make China cut its emissions too!!! All of those out of control Chinese--they suck on the pipe and breed like flies...!!! RIGHT...???
In fact..., China has the second largest economy in the world after the US, this where foreign-invested enterprises today produce about half of China's exports (which is not the same as US companies 'sourcing" their goods in China...).
"As of 2004, almost a quarter (23%) of China's CO2 emissions were coming from Chinese-made products destined for the West. Over half of those emissions driven by demand from the West are from transnationals in China, including many of the Wal-Mart-suppliers ..., Wikipedia.
And talk about wreaking the economy--funny? how the fancy Bear Stearns' people lose it all over the place after embracing those "high-risk" subprime housing loans--then the Government bails them all out...
No..., the funny thing is how someone just decides to drastically raise the interest rates--and the Bears Stearns people don't utilize that old preogative of knocking them off...???
What have we come to...???
MUST BE ALL THOSE RECREATIONAL DRUGS...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
