  • COOL SHADES Beat summer heat by hanging white curtains or shades. They can reduce solar heat gain by up to 50 percent and cut down on air conditioning costs.

  • SOFT SHOE No need to shine shoes with those toxic polishes. For leather of any color, apply olive oil to a soft cloth and buff to a shine. For tan or black leather, try lemon juice.
