Please write congress against the Iran Refined Petroleum Sanctions Act H. R. 2194 & H. RES. 460 (house) & S. 908 (senate). The intent of H. RES. 460 is to expedite H. R. 2194 by pulling it out of committee. Last year a more severe version of this bill complete with a naval blockade was proposed (H.CON.RES 362 & S.RES.580). This shelved partly because of letter writing, but mostly because even congress knows not to start a new war in the middle of a financial crisis [1].

Iran Refined Petroleum Sanctions Act tries to restrict Iran refined petroleum imports to squeeze Iran’s economy & leadership. Much of Iran’s refinery capability was destroyed during the Iraq Iran war when Saddam tried to take over Iran oil rich Khuzestan Province. We (U.S.A.) supported Saddam during the Iran Iraq war [2].

Severe Iranian sanctions before any diplomacy will undermine the future of diplomacy & put us on track to war with Iran. A failed “diplomacy” will just be used to sell another war to the misinformed American public like Iraq. As we later found out Iraq was disarmed of WMD & at least a100,000 Iraqi children died because of sanctions before the war not for WMD but for regime change [3].

AIPAC or American Israel Public Affairs Committee, probably the most powerful lobby in the U.S. is pushing for this legislation. They hold gala events that more than half of congress attends. Obama gave a speech to AIPAC one day after his democratic nomination election, McCain 2 days before. AIPAC vets our presidential candidates. In his speech to AIPAC Obama promised Israel $30 billion over 10 years. He went further than any president by saying, “Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided.” This declaration by Israel over East Jerusalem declared null & void by U. N. Security Council Resolution 478 in 1980. Obama campaign later backtracked [3].

Like the Bush administration, AIPAC has embedded Israeli hawks in the Obama administration.
Hillary Clinton like Bush said “No options off the table”, worse than Bush she says, “We can totally obliterate them”.
Rahm Emanuel volunteered for Israel army during the first gulf war even though he was born in Chicago. Emanuel’s dad belonged to the Irgun, a terrorist organization that killed both British & Arabs.
Dennis Ross, until recently he was a Distinguished Fellow at WINEP a think tank backed by AIPAC & also chairman of JPPPI, a think tank in Israel that annually briefs major Jewish organizations, such as AIPAC, ADL & others. He once worked for Paul Wofowitz. Wofowitz was the Deputy Secretary of Defense & a major architect of the Iraq war. Ross in his new book recommends coercion before direct talks & that force against Iran will look better in the context of a failed direct negotiations. The AIPAC demands of Iran are doomed to fail especially since Israel has an estimated 80 to 200 nuclear weapons. Ross was Middle East ambassador at large. Now he’s part of the National Security Council. Ross is a good protégé of his former boss & in charge of a far bigger potential disaster.

I am not really sure if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your great job is clearly identifed.

I;m trying hard not to sound inflammatory here, but it's a problem for me. The father of Rahm bragged as soon as Obama picked him, that "Rahm will straighten him out in a hurry." Maybe it's not working as fast as the elder planned? I'll not soon forget candidate Obama at AIPAC declaring that Jerusalem will never be divided and will remain the Capitol of Israel. Not only does Israel receive a lot of money, but they get to try out out WMD (cluster bombs and White phosphorus to start) on their neighbors. I'm thinking the AIPAC lobby has something to do with this. None of my info comes from MSM, and I probably could be considered a Leftie, been one all my life. Oh yeah, I am NOT anti Semitic, but I am anti-Zionist and anti-AIPAC.
