Frame of the Day

In today’s NY Times Clyde Haberman ties Rudy’s recent cell phone event to a record of “weirdness.” In politics a narrative about someone or “frame” (coined by George Lakoff) is established as a first step in bringing a pol down. As with Gore (“dishonest”) or Kerry (“weak/flip-flopper”) all subsequent attacks that can match the frame are much, much more effective. Now, heaven be praised, a Republican, and the most dangerous one at that, has a frame. And a fine, beautiful, endlessly applicable one it is too. And weird.
