Wong is a Chinese name. To use the term "Kowtowed" in regards to a Chinese person is considered to be racially insensitive to say the least. Please try to be more racially sensitive on this progressive site.

The use of the word "kowtowed" is not racially insensitive. Ms. Lee may be offended, but that is of her own doing. She may somehow have been wounded by the use of the word, but that does not everyone else was damaged.

Kowtow is not for Chinese people. Kowtow was very important in the diplomacy of China with European powers, since it was required to come into the presence of the Emperor of China, it meant submission before him. That is why it is a slur to a Chinese person to imply that they are European and not Chinese. It is OK to use it amongst Europeans, but not towards a Chinese person, then it becomes a slur. We must always strive to be sensitive to the many races and ethnic backgrounds in our multi cultural society.

You dumb-ass, Wong is Chinese as is kowtow, but Chinese is no more a race than American or Canadian. When you come out of the fetal position and begin to put your life back together after this grave injustice, perhaps you'll realize that there are real issues out there. What"s important here,people,is not that Martha Wong is Chinese and the term kowtowed was used to describe her subservience to a strong arm goon like Craddick,but,the fact that she gave in to his pressure against the wishes of her constituents.I,personally don"t care what your ethnic background is.If you are elected by the people in your state to represent them and then you succumb to political pressure and ignore those who elected you,then you deserve to lose a re-election campaign.Unfortunately,most of our elected officials promise one thing and do another and,frankly, the American people are tired of lying,irresponsible politicians who,once in office,arrogantly act as if we don"t exist.
