Thompson Campaign Courts Rove Protégé, Not Their Best Move
Amidst the "Fred Thomspson to announce" clamor, TPMmuckraker spotted a Wall Street Journal (sub. req.) article that claims Thompson's campaign is courting Timothy Griffin. Griffin is the young prosecutor and Karl Rove protégé who was appointed U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas in December of 2006. His appointment has received a great deal of criticism within the broiling U.S. Attorney firings scandal, as it is believed that former U.S. Attn. Bud Cummins was removed only to make room for Rove's lackey.
But that's not all the dirt on Griffin according to Monica Goodling's long-awaited testimony last week. Goodling claimed that her former coworker Paul McNulty falsely testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee when he claimed he had no information about Griffin's involvement in "caging" (a voter suppression technique). Greg Palast noted back in March that according to BBC Television, Griffin headed up a scheme to suppress 70,000 citizens' votes before the 2004 election, targeting black soldiers and homeless men and women. This, by the way, is illegal. Strangely, no one in the media is touching this, except, of course, Palast, who after Goodling's testimony cried out for people to pay attention to this scandal. Although, in doing so, he got McNulty's name wrong, calling him Kyle Sampson. (Oops, wrong resigned-DOJ official, Greg.) There is bound to be more news on this front but in the meantime a note to Thompson: I don't think this is your best move.

This will probably help Thompson in Arkansas and Tennesee. The Republican's ill-treatment of the soldiers has gotten NO traction. So, caging Black soldiers won't cause a raised eyebrow within or without their constituents. Also disdain for homeless people, no matter the race, is a universal theme in America. I wouldn't be surprised if McNulty is named VP for whomever is nominated for their party.

Arkansas' First District, where I live, has a large black voting base, and its rural are trending more and more mexican-American as farmers see them as an opportunity to limit payroll and push off part of that upon subsidies provided by government and state(similar to Wal-Mart's part-time efforts).

Where is the press that is supposed to report these facts and thus help be a guardian of freedom? Why is the press so terrified of or indifferent to this Administration's illegal and immoral behavior that threatens our constitutional form of government?

Nothing much has changed over the past 25 years in media land. It's all about credentials and it's a catch-22. You don't attain credentials without "paying your dues". You pay dues by keeping quiet whenever people with credentials deliberately lie or distort information for political gain. If you speak out you are then marginalized and discredited. The news media focus on political candidates has always been on the attraction of money. If people with money don't like you you are toast.

Well, if I had been ole Freddy, I sure would not have quit my day job. If you belive in reincarnation well, Freddy may be closest thing to the Reagan NeoCons yet. It is amazing what science can do now because I feel they could dig ole Ronnie up and with a little botox, make-up and joint replacements he would look almost as good as Freddy. Freddy (he is a good ole Tennessee boy like me except I am a natural born son of TN. and member of the First Families of Tennessee which requires having ancestory living in Tennessee prior to 1796 when it became a state) has said, the GOP field of candidates are weak. Even Gingrich the adultry grench has his doubts about the GOPs field of '08. McCain sings bomb bomb bomb and more bombs for Iran. After all, a plumber knows how to fix things plumbers ways and electricians know how to fix things their way and well, plane pilot bombers know how to fix it their way. The hierarchie of Bushes may have been broken because of Jeb and Neil. Romney has pissed the Mormans off and Falwell is not here to tell them what GOD says to do about it. California Swartzen???????? what ever is snuggled in there till next time so he can be the first unnatural born american American President. TN. Sen. Plumb Bob Coker is too green. Lamar Alexander the picalo piano player is tied up with protecting coal company lobbiest and working to undot the i's and uncross the t's of the G8 green house agreement. The other California Duke Cunningham got his finger pinched on the cookie jar lid, Tom Delay and Ted Lay are trying to not be in jail with ole Black Jack Abermoff. The former Florida Congressman , what's his name, the one that likes male pages? Anyway, he is out. And the other flakey GOP Rep. some where out near the mid west, oh darn I having trouble with names today, he is sorta a tall gentleman with maybe redish hair that perfers gentlmen you got it figured out be now I'd say. He may not be the right 1 either. I was a Neo with money, I would put my money on ole Paul Wolfowitz. He is unemployeed and ole Karl Rove will be soon. Now you see, President Wolfowitz and Vice President Karl Rove. That has a sower krauut taste. Paul the Wolf may not want it so you still have ole Quick Draw Cheney for Prez. Freddy and Newt should wait and see how the cookies crumble cause they can get a few morsels if their patient.
Peace to you America, Iraq and Afganistan.

I can see the headline now: White male southern conservative Republican hires specialist is robbing non-whites of their right to vote
The subheadline will be: Republicans ask why blacks keep voting Democratic
