On Sunday, hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (and featured vocalist Mary Lambert) performed their pro-marriage-equality song "Same Love" at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. What made this performance unique (more so than Madonna's appearance, Trombone Shorty, and the gospel choir) was that it was accompanied by a mass wedding of over 30 couples—gay, straight, interracial. Queen Latifah, who was deputized by Los Angeles County to perform the ceremony and will sign the marriage certificates, officiated at the weddings.

"[This] will be in our minds the ultimate statement of equality, that all the couples are entitled to the same exact thing," Lewis told the New York Times.

The performance/ceremony was later praised by GLAAD. Watch it here:

Along with being a supporter of gay marriage, Macklemore is also a big fan of the American Civil Liberties Union and abortion rights.
