Conservative Blog Bans Ron Paul Supporters

ron_paul_supporters.jpg

Ron Paul can't catch a break. He gets repeatedly disrespected by the media, he gets more contributions from the military than any other Republican presidential candidate but is slimed as a defeatist, and he does well in polls but can't get taken seriously. And now conservatives are turning against him because he's ginning up too much support.

Conservative website/blog hub Redstate is banning Ron Paul supporters. Says some fascist webmaster dude named Leon: "Effective immediately, new users may *not* shill for Ron Paul in any way shape, form or fashion. Not in comments, not in diaries, nada. If your account is less than 6 months old, you can talk about something else, you can participate in the other threads and be your zany libertarian self all you want, but you cannot pimp Ron Paul."

The reason? Swear to god: Leon thinks Ron Paul supporters are actually liberals in disguise. That's just ridiculous. There are conservative supporters of Ron Paul, there are some liberal supporters of Ron Paul, and (whouda thunk it?) there are libertarian supporters of Ron Paul. In addition, there are some people who don't claim a political identity or don't follow politics regularly that have been driven to Ron Paul's minimalism by the overreach and incompetence of the Bush Administration.

But there aren't any fakers, as far as I can tell. I've met a number of earnest Ron Paul supporters, but I've never met a Hillary Clinton supporter or Barack Obama supporter who went undercover at conservative sites and pimped Ron Paul to amuse themselves or to sow chaos.

To assume that Ron Paul's support is really a bunch of liberals in disguise is a particularly odd blend of denial and paranoia. And just look at the picture above. Who is Leon kidding?

A Ron Paul nomination would do more damage to the current Republican party establishment than any Democrat could. He would be able to rebuild the party with his own platform. It would devastate the neocons and leave them without a party. They are absolutely terrified of this guy.

From what I can tell, these Ron Paul supporters are conducting a coordinated call in / blog media blitz touting the economic Darwinist and corporate fascist as some sort of nice guy. I don't think they censored the shills because they're liberal, per se, but because they're shills.

trippin - unless a corporation is actually a state, it cannot be fascist, by the definition of the word fascist. Look it up. It derives from the Latin 'fasces'. Darwin had no opinion on economics. Confusing the two is the height of ignorance. Admit it - you're afraid of freedom. You want the omnipotent State to tell you what to do because that's the only way you can feel good about yourself. And you want the State to force others to live your way because it's the only way you can be comfortable.

So who's the fascist in this equation?

Ron Paul is shaking up the Status Quo! I wish more people just knew who he is and what he stands for.....

Mitch - corporations only exist as entities with limited liability and pretend rights as a legal person because governments decree that they do. To the extent then that corporations exert power, they are indeed an expression of fascism. (And aside from corporations, how would property owners of any kind claim definite boundaries not ambiguously overlapping other property claims unless governments decided who was right and what they owned (like mineral rights - what Lockean stewardship of land could rationally provide the right to claim goodies far underground in exclusion to everyone else, etc?)

You can go to smartass Red State to post a comment, BUT it can only be on one (and one only) forum...and it has to be phrased in a Haiku (japanese structured poetry). There's some pretty good hits even if Ron Paulites have to ryhme! Undercover ron agent over and out. bush/cheney trials '09

so today, Ron Paul blows every one-day fundraising record into the weeds

John Kerry's $5.7 million record is already history, as Ron tops $6 mil, and as Curly said in 'City Slickers': "day ain't over yet."

Will you neophyte Ron Paul-ites just take a few minutes and look at the guy's record? Off the charts right wing. You like guns, prayer (Christian, of course!) in school, and an end to Roe v Wade? So you think his anti position has some moral slant? bs, the far right hates war because it costs them $$. We don't loot as well as we used to. Well, if you can swallow all of that, click away your Visa card#, this is your man. The good news of course, is that the people like you, turns out, you don't vote much anyway.
