This is a Southwest Airlines jet taking off from John Wayne Airport. Sharp-eyed locals will note that the plane is taking off to the north, which means only one thing: it was a windy day. The normal takeoff from John Wayne is south over Newport Beach, but when the winds get heavy everything gets turned around and they take off to the north over Irvine and Tustin.
