Sigh. A Brand New McCain Flip-Flop. This Time, the DREAM Act
I'm getting tired of slamming the guy over and over, but the DREAM Act is important to me so I'm going to mention this.
Speaking at an event hosted by La Raza, a nationwide organization that fights for the rights of Hispanic Americans, John McCain was asked by a young girl if he would commit to supporting the DREAM Act. McCain said, "Yes. Yes, but I will also enforce the existing laws. That's why we must secure the border."
That's great. It really is. I hope McCain means it, because he has said pretty explicitly in the past that he is opposed to the DREAM Act. For example, the conservative National Review quoted McCain as saying, "I would have voted against it I have said a thousand times, I have heard the message from the American people. They want the border secured first."
Of course, that was in the primary, when McCain was getting hammered for supporting comprehensive immigration reform by the conservative base. Now it's the general and there are moderates and Hispanics to which McCain must appeal. Recently, there have been so many mistakes, flip-flops, little hypocrisies, big hypocrisies, deceptions, and policy boondoggles that none of them are getting any oxygen. It's all just a wash, and it shouldn't be.

Don't forget whitewashing his veteran's issues voting record, and outright lying to a Vietnam vet's face about his "perfect ratings" from several veteran's organizations!!!
Not cool to play with people's emotions about such an important issue as immigrant children going to college.
If only he had to follow up with the same young woman that asked him the question. Look her in the eyes in a few years and explain to her why he encouraged so many young people to work toward the goal of attending college only to crush their hopes because of discrimination against their immigrant parents.
How can we expect him to follow through on what is, to him, a shallow political promise when he can't even seem to remember what he's voted the 40% of the time he's bothered to show up for his job in the Senate.

Bush's Old Drummer Boy, John McCain is an aged RIGHT WING CONSERVATIVE drummer boy beating on his little drum, trying to carry on for his politically dead leader -- a pathetic sight that is one more of pity than someone who should be treated as a serious possibility for a third term of George W. Bush and his failed and discredited culture of corruption, cronyism and criminality. It is alright to pat the old drummer boy on the head, because you understand his dog like loyalty to his master, but it is not alright to forget or forgive his master's behavior out of pity for the old drummer boy.
